While acknowledging the current pharmacologic options for patients with anxiety disorders, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants, Lorenzo Norris, MD, looks to the horizon at promising alternative therapies and new modalities such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Citing the results of small studies and a recent article published in Current Psychiatry, Dr Norris suggests that chamomile tea extract might be another tool to add to the standard agents used in the treatment of patients with generalized anxiety disorder.
