Rachna T. Shroff, MD, recalls an early encounter she had with a patient with biliary tract cancer who created a lasting impact. The patient had received treatment at a time when there were very minimal studies of new therapies but was always willing to participate in any clinical trials and treatments that could potentially help him.
After the patient passed, his wife started a nonprofit organization called Cancer Kicks, named after the "kicks" he always wore when receiving treatment. Dr Shroff emphasizes that the organization has had an incredible impact on supporting research and raising funds for research in biliary tract cancer care.
