Richard Furie, MD, surveys changes he has witnessed to the therapeutic landscape for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), including the introduction of agents such as hydroxychloroquine and mycophenolate, belimumab, anifrolumab, and voclosporin.
Dr Furie contends that extended research supported the development of the current treatments for SLE, and that the arrival of new therapies will be made possible by continued advances in the understanding of the immune system.
