HPV-positive OPSCC is the most common HPV-related malignancy in the United States and affects a different demographic of individuals than HPV-negative OPSCC. PCPs are crucial in primary prevention of disease through vaccination and can dramatically improve patient prognosis through early detection. By increasing awareness of the distinctions between HPV-negative and HPV-positive OPSCC among PCPs, we could decrease the burden of illness among the population.
