Salvage Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy has long been used for both the primary and salvage treatment of prostate cancer. In this procedure, thin needle-like cryoprobes are placed transperineally into the prostate. Most commonly cryotherapy is performed using ultrasonic guidance; however, the use of real-time MRI-guidance is also possible. Whole or partial gland treatment can be performed by altering the number of cryoprobes.
