The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence advises offering all people with peripheral arterial disease written and oral information about their condition to enable them to understand their disease and make decisions about their treatment. The information should include the causes of their symptoms and the severity of their disease, the risks associated with the disease such as limb loss and cardiovascular events, modifiable risk factors, pain management, treatment options, and how to access support for anxiety and depression.
