NICE advises reviewing each treatment for short-term menopausal symptoms at 3 months to assess efficacy and tolerability, and then annually thereafter unless there are clinical indications for an earlier review, for example, treatment ineffectiveness, side effects or adverse events. For women with menopausal symptoms and contraindications to HRT, or if there is uncertainty about the most suitable treatment options, consider referral to a healthcare professional with expertise in menopause.
