As described in this article, some zoonotic helminths can cause serious and even life-threatening infections in humans. Although we have covered the most clinically relevant zoonotic helminth infections endemic to North America, many other zoonotic infections can, on rare occasions, cause human infections with potentially severe consequences. For this reason, clinicians and laboratory scientists should be familiar with the main clinical and diagnostic features of common zoonotic helminths and the resources available for their identification.
