Is There Any Role of Spirometry in the Diagnosis of ABPA?

Spirometry may help in the diagnosis and severity assessment of asthma. However, asthma patients with or without ABPA may have a normal spirometry. Thus, a normal spirometry does not exclude the diagnosis of ABPA.[39] Bronchial provocation testing with Aspergillus antigens are generally not advisable as it can cause severe bronchospasm.[77]
