Closed manipulation may provide limited benefit in mild cases of posttraumatic elbow stiffness, but may also result in heterotopic ossification formation and complications such as periarticular fracture. Araghi et al.[13] reported the use of closed manipulation combined with postmanipulation static progressive splinting in 51 patients, resulting in an average change in the elbow flexion-extension arc from 401 to 781.
