Methods

Data for this review were identified by searches on the PubMed database using the following key words: 'dystonia', 'deep-brain stimulation', 'GPi', 'DBS', 'thalamus', 'subthalamic nucleus', 'cortical stimulation' and 'pallidotomy'. References were also found using relevant articles and authors' files. Only articles written in English were considered.
