Abstract and Introduction

Perforating ocular injuries are "through-and-through" globe defects with entry and exit sites. This is in contrast to penetrating injuries, which have a point of entry into the globe but no exit wound. The surgical repair of globe perforations is a complex undertaking due to the multiple globe defects, the high rate of associated proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), and the unique challenges of managing the exit wound.
