As a result of newborn screening programs, there are thousands of children living healthy and productive lives.[1] Newborn screening is vital to detect devastating diseases before adverse irreversible effects occur. Healthcare providers must have a thorough understanding of both the process and outcomes of newborn screening to provide the best care possible to parents and infants.) Advocate, support, and provide education for parents, including information on current newborn screening practices in order to improve awareness and understanding.
