Complications of appendicitis may include wound infection, dehiscence, bowel obstruction, abdominal/pelvic abscess, and, rarely, death. Stump appendicitis also occurs rarely; however, at least 36 reported cases of appendicitis in the surgical stump after previous appendectomy exist. [65]
