Pulmonary abnormalities occur in 9-29% of cases; they are similar in primary and secondary Sjögren syndrome. Lung signs include the following [57] :

  • Pulmonary fibrosis

  • Pulmonary hypertension

  • Recurrent chest infections

  • Granulomatous infiltration and fibrosing alveolitis

  • Restrictive ventilatory defect

  • Impaired gas transfer

  • Bibasilar rales – Can be heard in patients with interstitial lung disease
