Longer time on extracorporeal cardiopulmonary bypass is commonly accepted as a risk factor for AKI. However, a study by Mancini et al found that extracorporeal cardiopulmonary bypass time did not predict AKI requiring dialysis, suggesting that a risk assessment may be a more reliable marker. [9]
