Eye examination may reveal the following:

  • Keratitis, iritis, uveitis, dry conjunctivae: Autoimmune vasculitis
  • Jaundice: Liver diseases
  • Band keratopathy (ie, hypercalcemia): Multiple myeloma
  • Signs of diabetes mellitus
  • Signs of hypertension
  • Atheroemboli: Retinopathy (ie, Hollenhorst plaque in cholesterol microembolism)
