Patients should be instructed that, upon completion of the procedure, some discomfort is common with voiding the first few times following the procedure. Persistence of discomfort, particularly if associated with other signs/symptoms of a urinary tract infection, should prompt a urinalysis and culture. Rarely, the patient may see blood in the urine for the first void or two after the procedure. If this persists, the patient should contact the provider.
