How should anesthesia be administered for a trabeculectomy?

Use the smallest needle possible (eg, gauge 30) when injecting subconjunctival anesthesia to reduce the chance of bleeding and creating a buttonhole. Try to insert the needle in a spot where the conjunctiva will eventually be incised.
