Preoperative IOP lowering

  • Higher IOP leads to higher risk of intraoperative suprachoroidal hemorrhage

  • Oral and topical IOP-lowering medications

  • Osmotic agents such as mannitol and glycerol, if needed

  • Surgical methods

    • Paracentesis (very slow and controlled release of aqueous)

    • Vitreous tap
