Answer

Answer

Type IV devices historically measured only 1 or 2 parameters (eg, oxygen saturation or airflow); they typically included oximetry, but not oximetry alone. This changed, however, after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) decided to cover continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment for positive tests from Type IV devices with at least 3 channels.
