Baweja et al suggest that when measuring urinary albumin using high-performance liquid chromatography in an early and uncomplicated pregnancy, spot urinary albumin:creatinine ratio (ACR) values are higher. If measured early in the second trimester, an ACR of 35.5 mg/mmol or higher may predict preeclampsia before symptoms arise. [51]
