Answer

Melanocortin Agonists

Melanocortin-4 (MC4) receptors in the brain are involved in the regulation of hunger, satiety, and energy expenditure. Setmelanotide may reestablish MC4-receptor pathway activity in patients with obesity due to rare genetic conditions associated with insufficient activation of the MC4 receptor.

Setmelanotide (Imcivree)

MC4 agonist designed to restore impaired MC4 pathway function caused by genetic variants that occur upstream of the receptor. It is indicated for adults and for children aged 6 years or older, being employed for chronic weight management in obesity resulting from proopiomelanocortin (POMC), proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1), or leptin receptor (LEPR) deficiency.
