Answer

Effecting behavioral change starts with taking a detailed inventory of the patient’s daily activities, in order to identify activities, cues, circumstances, and practices that favor nonmeal eating and snacking. A trained professional must then have an in-depth discussion with the patient to develop an individualized plan to change these practices. The effectiveness of this modality depends on a highly motivated patient and a dedicated counselor who is willing to maintain long-term follow-up. [146, 147]
