In a study in Brazil, subarachnoid hemorrhage due to ruptured intracranial aneurysm was demonstrated to cause changes in the thyroid hormone profile, particularly causing a reduction in serum T3 and free T4. No significant difference was noted in the serum levels of total T4 and TSH levels. The control group included patients who underwent surgery for benign spine disease. [27]
