Decompression in situ is essentially a localized decompression of the nerve, accomplished by incising the Osborne ligament and opening the tunnel beneath the two heads of the flexor carpi ulnaris by incising the fascia holding them together. It is easy to perform, and the complication rate is low. In contrast to other methods, ulnar nerve decompression in situ avoids damage to the vascular supply of the nerve. It is less traumatic to the patient than other decompression procedures, and it has been shown to be equally successful. [169, 143, 170]
