Depending on the specific clinical situation, the following tests may be considered as well:

  • Hemoglobin A1C [111]

  • Antinuclear antibody

  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate

  • Renal function tests

  • Paraproteinemia workup (serum protein electrophoresis with immunofixation)

  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme

  • Lyme serology

  • Thyroid function tests

  • Vitamins B-12, B-1, and B-6

  • Folate level

  • Methylmalonic acid

  • Tissue transglutaminase antibody

  • Gliadin antibody

  • HIV serology

  • Hepatitis serologies
